And then , you know , even at the end of the career , he started to realize he needed to use his art for a greater purpose . So the one at Albion Riverside Park in Lincoln Heights , the Department of Cultural Affairs wanted me to tap into civil rights , local athletes of accolade , local landmarks and the history of the L A River .
I grew up in Downy . But as far as art influence goes , one that really stands out in my memory is Norman Rockwell . He had this gift for capturing the nuances of narratives and storytelling .
