I think , you know , our team is very competitive whenever we have an opportunity to try to win something , we're always gonna try to go out there and do it like . Even in practice , even if it's a simple drill , we're always fighting , always competing , so it's nice early on in the season to try to compete for something we didn't , we didn't do too well out here , but I think it kinda also showed guys that like we're not where we need to be at and we need to get a lot better .
It kind of reminds me of the AAU tournaments I used to go to back in the day like having all the athletes in the hotel , and it's definitely been a great experience , you know , this players there tournaments , the first one ever and I was , I'm really glad to be a part of it for the first time . I play basketball for Creighton University . Probably the best piece of advice I've been given is to not really look to compare yourself to someone else because there's always gonna be someone that's better than you and the only person you should compete with you is yourself every single day and go out and get better . Probably the most important thing I focus on is kind of your mental health and staying motivated every day because your motivation is gonna vary .
I had this dream of playing college ball and I really wanted to achieve it , so I went to a junior college in a really small town in Nebraska , North Platte town of about 10,000 people . It was a struggle there for sure , like really hard every day , like not a lot of people around you , only really yourself pushing you and then after the season I got the opportunity to come play basketball at Creighton and you know I grew up as a Creighton basketball fan being from Omaha , so it was kind of a dream come true . Yeah , so my freshman year I tried out for even just the freshman team .
If it's really a family here and everyone really cares about you , but on the court and off the court , uh , it's actually been really cool .
