So my longest field goal I've ever made in practice is 65 yards . It's hard to believe , but kickers are getting so much better these days . You've got guys hitting 68 yarders in games .
And then when you have somebody who's been in the game a long time , whether it's a coach or another . Kicking specialists in college that can help you move forward with other coaches and building a relationships , I think that's huge for you younger athletes . So the Barstool Sports Bowl we played in the first one ever against Wyoming and .
Have to come and bounce back from , so I think um just the success you gotta keep looking back on it and know what you're capable of doing and being able to perform and do that day in and day out . Recruiting process for me and kickers in general is very different . Um , throughout high school I was always a soccer kid .
You have to perform at the highest level in this position to be able to get a chance to play and . You need to utilize somebody like my kicking coach was a big help in my process . He was able to reach out for teams and schools for me to be able to get my name out there , but you got to put in the work first and be able to go to those camps and showcase what you're capable of .
He's got a pretty big leg and he hit a soccer ball pretty far , and I remember going out there 8th grade summer and going out to a practice and with the varsity team they took me out there and I , I think I hit either a 45 or 50 yard field goal , um , at that practice and the next thing you know I'm starting as a freshman on varsity in high school and . Um , started going to kicking camps and , um , getting ranked , and I think at one point I was ranked 6th in the country and , um , it's hard to get a scholarship as a kicker just in high school just because the transfer portal was becoming a bigger thing and . Uh , I had a couple offers .
