The recruiting process for Madison Murray started during her senior year of high school, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. She emphasized the importance of competing indoors and the significance of being in a space surrounded by people who are better than you, in order to better your chances of becoming a Division I student athlete. She also highlighted the values of patience, trusting the process, and the importance of grinding when necessary. Madison mentioned that her head coach found her at the state meet, and she ultimately decided to attend Youngstown State University due to its fit with her vibe. This decision was influenced by her interaction with other schools, which didn't fit her vibe as much as the Youngstown campus did. Her coach took a chance on her after he saw her recover from a fumbled race, ultimately leading to her being the number one hurdler during her freshman year.

And I came back and I broke the school record for the 60 hurdles and I just want to continue to improve for not only me but to be a great person for my teammates as well . Some things that I have picked up on and really focused here at Youngstown are patience , being able to trust the process and just grind when you need to grind and your time will come when you deserve it like when you earn it , it'll always come to you . I balance academics with my athletic schedule with a very colorful calendar .

At some point in the season to make sure that I was doing what I could for my team . And I would always accomplish that .
