We're number 4 , our long jump team #4 in the country right now , so I feel like that speaks for itself . Personal goals I got for myself slash my team this semester or this season , it's definitely the first thing , you know , keep pushing each other at practice , just keep helping each other out because , you know , as a team we all , we all need each other to succeed . The goal is to end up being taking the number one spot .
And my indoor season's almost over going into outdoors , so I believe I picked the right school . balancing my academics and my sports career . Definitely since I've been at Youngstown , it's been way easier than it was at my junior college because first off we have a great academic staff like on campus to to manage I guess your time and to help you , you know , succeed .
I'm not going to say exactly when because um you know I believe in God and I believe that he already written my story so I'm gonna just let him , you know , just take control of my my journey and the advice I'll give to a younger athletes trying to go do one . Definitely do not rush the progress , you know , you can't rush greatness . I've been through it all .
Fast forward to end of my senior year outdoor ended up not making it to states because regionals , I was around , I was doing something I was supposed to be doing , so I ended up missing my chance to compete to go to states . And then ended up getting a chance to compete at New Balance Nationals , which is like one of like the biggest nationals meet they host for like track and field throughout the whole entire year , and it's like an invitation you got a qualifying mark to go and I ended up winning New Balance Nationals , so that was like a like a big thing going into not making it to states and then going to New Balance and then , you know , winning becoming a New Balance national champion . And I remember around that time a lot of coaches was hitting me up , but um sadly because of how I was slipping up freshman sophomore year of high school , my grades couldn't really , I didn't really have the grades to go D1 and I had no choice but to go JuCA and my first year of my juCA it wasn't really the best and in my second year when I came back I started picking up on stuff and um .
My recruiting um process really really really started way back , um . Coming in from coming in from Ghana , which is in West Africa , and then landing at Columbus , Ohio , where my family , um , I guess that's where we grew up at uh my parents put me in sports to keep me out of trouble and stay out the way and uh it kind of helped a little bit until the summer when school was over and I was hanging around around people and then going into high school it was like the same thing over and over again and then we found a solution by . Joining um club teams which over the summer like certain coaches they just host to you know keep the um sports or whatever going over the summer so I started doing that and my first team was great and then it went well , um .
