So consistency is the top thing for me in my sport . As far as challenges I faced to get to the division 1 level , uh , for me it was always about finances first . I didn't grow up with the most wealthy family , and I knew going to college I'd have to get a scholarship .
And then our team just kind of works together and relies on each other . It starts getting hard , as every longer distance race does , it starts getting hard , and we stop thinking about ourselves , start thinking about each other , and that really powers us through . And just having that core of uh family and brotherhood really , really helps .
And my first semester I decided I'd take 18 credits , so I just powered through . It was hard . I was , it was late nights of studying when I should be sleeping to rest and it was skipping out on hanging out with friends to study and do the work .
I didn't grow up with the most wealthy family , and I knew going to college I'd have to get a scholarship . So I knew I'd have to compete really well . I had to behave myself and get a scholarship in order to go to Division 1 school .
If not , I'd go to a low Division 2 or Division 3 , something that'd pay me , uh , just to be sure I'd get my education . Uh , of course injuries were always in the way , stuff like that , but for me it was always just staying true , staying healthy , and , uh , finding a way to get the scholarship out of it . As far as the recruitment process goes and how I ended up in the Division One school , uh , it was a different time .
