Being a D1 athlete or going pro or anything like that , so at the time it was just everybody's having fun with it , and he really taught us how to be professional , how to treat ourselves like we're there to do a job and how to be professional athletes in that aspect . In my training regimen as a cross country and distance athlete , the most important thing is consistency . Sleep is good , drinking lots of water is good , good nutrition is good , uh , but if you're taking 2 or 3 days off a week , you're not getting better .
The other 3 months are an off time . It's 3 months of building mileage and training to ensure that you continue to get better . So consistency is the top thing for me in my sport .
It was just a whole world of things . He taught us how to treat ourselves professionally . Uh , at that time , we're all just high school students , we're all just kids .
Uh , this is a year-round sport . I run indoor , outdoor , cross country , so I race for 9 months of the year . The other 3 months are an off time .
Uh , COVID just started at the end of my junior year , and that's when scholarships happened for track athletes . You run a fast track time , they start giving you money , you sign , you have your senior year to kind of train and show them what you can do . For me , I didn't get a track season .
